Beach Waves Live With L'ange Hair

lange pic.JPG

Yesterday, I had the privilege of taking over L’ange Hair’s Facebook to do a live beach wave tutorial with their curling wand. It was so much fun and I was able to answer lots of questions about the product line. Hopefully, this is the first of many collabs with L’ange.

This whole thing came about because I’m on a mission to become Mandy With The Good Hair. The kind people at L’ange read my post and got in touch with me offering help, products and hair tools.

I did the takeover at L’ange’s headquarters where there is even an absolutely insta-worthy studio for this kind of thing. They were super generous and I was able to give everyone watching live a sweet deal—30% off everything on their website. If you missed it, don’t worry, watch below and save 30% too. Just click here to go to L'ange's site and use the promo code AMANDA.

Here are the products used in the tutorial:

25mm Curling Wand

This wand not only looks pretty on your bathroom sink (it’s rose gold and blush—seriously), it’s made of titanium and heats up in a matter of seconds. It doesn’t matter what hair type you have. It’s perfect for all hair types to create everything from sexy, messy beach waves to curls.

Rival Heat Shield

You know when you use a heat protector on your hair, you hear it singe and wonder WTF just happened? That doesn’t happen with this product. Spritz on, wait a few seconds and get styling. Your hair will sizzle but not in the “I just burned it off” kind of way.

Deja Vu Dry Shampoo

dejavu_2048x2048.jpg

The problem with most dry shampoos is that they leave a white, chalky residue in your hair. Gross! This dries clear. If you don’t believe me, watch the video. I sprayed it on my hand.

Salt + Sea Texturizing Spray

This sets fresh beach waves perfectly. Or put your hair in up in a bun, spritz and leave overnight for some am hair sexiness.

Grand Debut Root Booster

Get rid of blah hair in seconds by using the Root Booster. After spraying, lift your roots from the bottom.

Satin Nectar Nourishing Gloss

For instant shine, use a few pumps in your hand and apply to your hair, especially the ends.

Thank you so much to L'ange, Tahari ASL for the top and J Webber Jewelry for the necklace.

F-It Fridays: PrettyLittleThing Edition

I know it’s been a while since I’ve done an F-It Friday. But then again, I have a podcast called Things We’re Too Lazy To Blog About, so you can clearly understand my priorities here. But hey, it’s the summer, which means most of you are vacationing or staycationing anyway. And if you’ve been trying to figure out what to wear for these events (or even non-events like date night or grabbing drinks your friends), I have an easy solution. The PrettyLittleThing Vacation Shop has lots of adorable options. Also, everything is super affordable, so you can treat yourself sans guilt!

PLT even sent me a few outfits so I could show you how cute everything is. While I did not personally wear any of these pretty little things on vacation (because I did not go on one), I drove twenty minutes to the neighborhood of Silver Lake, Los Angeles to take these pictures. So, close enough. Also, it was literally 1000 degrees out, so it was almost tropical. And by tropical I mean desert-like. You get it…. I’m trying here…

The Bardot Mini Dress is the perfect combo of sexy and casual. You can wear it shopping during the day and then go straight to date night. Your date will swoon over the Bardot. Probably more than once.

The Cecillia Ruffle Blue Embroidered Shift Dress is a trendy take on the classic look and ever so slightly modest.

These Leaf Print Slinky Wide Leg Trousers are great with a cotton top, paired with a bikini or even over a one-piece swimsuit.

You know those days when it's so hot outside you literally want to walk around naked but you can't because you're afraid to break the law, get arrested and then get stuck in a cell without air conditioning? Those days were made for the Ammie Grey Floral Wrap Dress. It's so light, you'll stay cool and cuff-free.

The Leaf Frill Cold Shoulder Shift Dress is equally cute and comfortable. You can totally wear this to a BBQ, go home and then pass out on your couch-- no changing necessary.

The Pink Floral Cold Shoulder Chiffon Playsuit is perfect for playing around on warm days. It also comes off really easily, so if you avoid rompers because of the whole peeing thing, know you're good to go in this one.

Yes, the gold slide sandals are also from PrettyLittleThing.

These Jeanie White Extreme Ripped Mom Denim Shorts would probably give your mom a heart attack. But she would appreciate the fact that they're high waisted.

Things We're Too Lazy To Blog About: My Podcast With Ali Levine

Welcome to the debut episode of Things We're Too Lazy To Blog About with Ali Levine & Amanda Lauren. If you are wondering where you can get this on iTunes, the answer is you can't at the moment. It's not because we're trying to be exclusive, it's because we are still waiting for an actual human at Apple to approve the podcast. This is more annoying than a publicist who can't find your name on a guest list. But, hopefully it should be up within the next few days (possibly hours). However, all you have to do is click the play button to listen. It will even work on your phone. Thank you so much for being patient and we get it, this is totally annoying.

UPDATE: We're on iTunes, so subscribe and write a review. 5 stars please!

In the first episode, celebrity stylist Ali Levine and I discuss why we created the podcast, first world problems such as why I can't find organic kale anywhere (not even a joke), and how to get dressed in Los Angeles (aka Ali tells us what to wear because she is an authority), which is essentially a long-form explanation of why everyone here looks like a Kardashian.

We want this to be an interactive experience, so please let us know what you want us to talk about or share your feedback by emailing ThingsWereTooLazyToBlogAbout [at] gmail dot com. If email isn't your thing (or even if it is), you can also discuss your feelings publicly on our Facebook Page or just like us because you think what we are doing is awesome.

So Last Week... All Self-Promotion Edition

I'm interupting your semi-regularly scheduled So Last Week to bring you some very exciting news. So, if you're looking for me to share my fav links of the week, sorry, but I'm taking this full-on narcissist style to announce my newest project, which is a podcast with Ali Levine called Things We're Too Lazy To Blog About. The title is pretty self-explanatory. Every week, Ali and I are going to dish on our major first world problems (spoiler alert: lack of organic kale, why drugstore hauls are impossible for me, and bad malls) as well as blog-worthy topics that would take way too much effort to delve into with words.

Last week, Ali and I had our makeup done at Blushington in Topanga to announce our collab live on social media.

If you aren't familiar with Ali, she is a stylist, television personality, and one of my closest friends. She also blogs and offers styling services to celebs as well as regular people.

The first episode will debut May 8th. We don't have an iTunes link at the moment because it takes a few days for Apple to approve the podcast, (hopefully just a few days- fingers crossed), but there will be links here and on our Facebook page. We are so excited about this podcast and want to make you a part of it. Let us know what topics we should cover and email your requests to ThingsWereTooLazyToBlogAbout [at] gmail dot com. (I know the way I just wrote that out is totally annoying, but are constant spam emails about penis enlargement).

It's Amanda Lauren X The Kitchn: How Dinner Changed When I Moved in with My Husband

My husband had me at "Chinese food."

The first time we met, we discovered that we grew up just blocks away from each other on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. When I asked him if his family liked to order takeout from China Fun, he recited the phone number. I swooned. Clearly, I thought, food was going to play an important role in our relationship. And it did — just not in the way that I expected it to.

As it turns out, China Fun takeout was basically the only food my husband and I had in common. From early on in our relationship, it was apparent we were not going to reenact the infamous spaghetti scene from Lady and The Tramp. He likes lamb chops; I love quinoa and kale. But our divergent culinary preferences were never an issue — that is, until we moved in together.

Moving into our first place together in Los Angeles, I remember unpacking all the goodies from our registry: All-Clad pans, Wüsthof knives, beautiful Kate Spade dishes, and gadgets galore. I finally had everything I needed to really cook the way I wanted to — not to mention a dream kitchen.

Sure, my bachelorette pad had a kitchen, but the range leaked gas more adequately than it cooked food. By comparison, our new apartment's kitchen had granite countertops, modern stainless steel appliances — the works! It was even smoke-alarm snafu-proof, thanks to cathedral-height ceilings in the living room and French doors leading out to the terrace.

Realistically, I knew I was no Nigella — but still, I was so excited to finally be able to really cook!
