Vacation Vibes With PrettyLittleThing Vacation Shop

PrettyLittleThing is one of those places to shop that just makes life easier. They have a big selection but it's divided into different curated collections, so you can actually find what you what. There's just one problem... You'll want everything!

Here are a few of my favorite outfits from their Vacation Shop.

IMG_5959.JPG

The White Bardot Plunge Maxi dress is perfect for any summer event (except for someone else's wedding, obviously). It's long, light and breezy.

One thing I really love about the dress is that its entire look can change with an accessory. I added Palm Leaf Print Headband to make the outfit more casual.

20180801_005115.jpg

Speaking of Palm Prints. How cute is this Pink Chiffon Palm Print Plunge Crop Blouse? It literally looks like a vacation. The print is so fun and just perfect for summer. You can wear it with shorts, jeans or anything. You can also plunge it a lot more than I did with some fashion tape.

acs.png

Don't be confused—PrettyLittleThing's Burnt Orange Chevron Price Lace Maxi Dress isn't Missoni or 70's vintage. But it certainly looks like it could be either one. I'm obsessed with this dress and it's absolutely gorgeous on!

Thank you so much to PrettyLittleThing for the beautiful outfits.

All The Festival Fashion From The STS Blue X StyleCon

STS Blue X Stylecon Unicorn

I love parties and denim (seriously who doesn’t?). So, I was thrilled to attend the STS Blue X StyleCon festival season kickoff event at the Hotel Indigo in Downtown Los Angeles last week. If you’ve been following my Instagram, you’ve probably seen some of the photos from the party. I know it's been borderline thirsty, but were so many pretty backgrounds, how could I not? (I. CAN’T. HELP. LOVING. ALL. THE. PRETTY. BACKGROUNDS)

STS Blue X Stylecon Step and Repeat

While parties are fun, can we pause and talk seriously for like half a second? To be honest, I have a little confession. I find jean shopping just about as much fun as waiting in line to pee at Starbucks. (Not just the line, but when you actually get to the bathroom, it's always a nightmare.) But STS Blue jeans fit me so perfectly, jean shopping drama is a thing of the past. OVER IT! This is because their denim stretches to fit my body (and yours) perfectly. Also, I’m not the tallest person and so I normally have to get everything hemmed, but not STS. The only person I know who doesn’t like STS Blue is my tailor, who may be sending out a search party for me as you read this because I haven't seen her in forever.

Denim For Days

STS has so many cute things like these Emma Distressed Skinny jeans in Optic White. Break the rules and don’t wait for Memorial Day to wear this color.  Wear them now! Like this second.

STS Blue Emma Distressed Skinny Jeans

STS also has lots of denim shorts. These have the same signature stretch as the pants do and they make your butt look it should be on the cover of a magazine. This season, I’m all about wearing the black Rose Bowl Distressed Denim Shorts.

STS Blue Rosebowl Distressed Denim Shorts

I also live in their denim jackets. I just got the Alexis Ruffle Oversize Boyfriend Jacket for spring, which I had customized to make extra special. What a great gift idea or maybe for your sorority.

STS Blue Alexa Jacket With Embroidery

I also have the Avery Boyfriend Jacket, which is a little less girly. It's also super comfortable. Sometimes, I’ll wear it with a sweatshirt and leggings to go to Pilates. But not spin. Obviously...

Next Level Festival Chic

Ten Sixity Sherman and Madison and Berkely

I was so excited to meet the team from sister labels Madison & Berkely and Ten Sixty Sherman. If you need anything you would describe as festival chic or even festival fabulous, these brands will be your new best friends. Check my Instagram tomorrow (or maybe now depending on when you are reading this) to see a few of my favorite pieces.

Don't Forget Accessories

Gretchen Christine was another sponsor of the party. Designed by Real Housewife, Gretchen Rossi (who, not to brag but I’ve met her IRL and she is super nice) designs these beautiful vegan leather handbags. She also has an awesome vegan nail polish collab with Twila True.

There were so many other fab brands involved with the event including Indi, H2R0se, Billion Dollar Brows, Suja Kumbuca, Neocell, Jet Suite X, and Heroes Beauty.

And Extra Karma Points...

But the purpose of the event wasn't just about fashion or Coachella. It also benefitted Shannon Elizabeth’s Animal Avengers organization. If you want to help them out on the regular, you can round up the pennies from your credit card purchases using the Coin Up app.

***Special thanks to Speechless Dresses for the romper I wore to this event.

Dressing Like The Stars: Blue & Yellow Dresses For The Oscars 2018

28427070_180719636062369_3548848162909192192_n.jpg

The Academy Awards is one of the most important nights of the year for fashion and entertainment. But I don't need an envelope or a statue to declare yellow and blue the clear winners of the evening. I am absolutely obsessed with Jennifer Garner's and Nicole Kidman's blue dresses and Eiza Gonzalez' and Greta Gerwig's yellow dresses. But, as jaw dropping as these colors are for the red carpet, they are also really accessible to the rest of us.  Here are my favorite yellow and blue dresses for every occasion.

True Blue

And Yellow Too...

A Romper Or Jumpsuit For Every Potentially Disastrous Social Situation

Trendy Romper.jpeg

If you read this blog or follow me on social media, you know I’m obsessed with rompers and jumpsuits. This is mainly because they involve minimal decisions. Why choose a top and a bottom when you can just choose one thing? Seriously, I have to make a million decisions every day, so if I can sign up for one less, I’m happy to. Speaking of less, when it comes to certain things, it’s always more. Let me explain—if you show me 100 pairs of shoes, there will not be one pair I want. But if you show me five pairs of shoes, I’ll want six. It’s just the way my life works…

This is exactly why I love what is perhaps the most self-explanatory site ever, Trendy Rompers. It’s very well curated, which is the best because I don’t have time, energy, or patience to look through hundreds of things. Trendy Rompers pares it down and only has the good stuff. Here are a few of my faves and the occasions they are most appropriate for.

You Have To Dress Like An Adult & But Also Not, On The Same Day With No Time To Change

rompers-malia-black-wide-leg-jumpsuit-1_1024x1024.jpg

The Malia Black Wide Leg Jumpsuit is perfect for those days when you need to do a quick wardrobe change. Wear it with a sweater or blazer for the office and then go full on jumpsuit for happy hour.

You Have To Go To An Evening Event & You Have No Idea If It’s Formal Or Casual & You Hate Everyone There Already

rompers-whitney-black-lace-maxi-romper-1_1024x1024.jpg

I was literally going through this last week. I had to go an influencer event, it was freezing out and I kept annoying a friend of mine with photos of outfit options. That’s why I’m totally into Whitney Black Lace Maxi Romper. The maxi skirt and sexy top make it cocktail chic, but the shorts say, “I didn’t overthink this.” Even if you did…

You Need Jaws To Drop

rompers-audrey-taupe-strapless-jumpsuit-3_grande.jpg

Do you want to walk into a room and have everyone stare? Because the Audrey Taupe Strapless Jumpsuit will bring all the jaws to the floor. The taupe color is perfect all year around and a fun alternative to black. Wear this with a statement necklace and a bold shoe.

You’re Having A Blah Day & You Need To Feel Fabulous

rompers-maryrose-blue-floral-print-jumpsuit-by-lush-1_1024x1024.jpg

You know those days when you feel gross, but you have a dinner or brunch and need to not feel that way? The Maryrose Blue Floral Print Jumpsuit was made for those days. The bright print automatically puts you in a good mood. It’s also super comfortable and just right for a post bottomless mimosa nap.

First Day Of Vacay

rompers-lo-seashell-off-the-shoulder-romper-2_grande.jpg

How pretty is the Lo Seashell Off-The-Shoulder Romper? It’s great for a romp around town or to wear to a seaside brunch. You can even use it as a cover-up over swimwear. The neutral color goes with anything you already own.

A Party For A Real Housewife's Really Cute Bag Line

DSC07390.jpg

Gretchen Rossi is one of my favorite Real Housewives. A few months ago, I interviewed her for A Sweat Life and I’ve been loving on her Gretchen Christine handbag line for a while now. So, I was super excited to attend the Gretchen Christine PopUpParty™ at Impressions in West Hollywood. So many celebs showed up to support her including Peggy Sulahian, Ashley Fargo, Beril Ackay, Lisa Arasheben, Craig Ramsay (From Bravo’s Newlyweds and my podcast), Caitlin O’Conner, Rachel McCord, Ali Levine and Emilia McCarthy. And yes, if you were wondering, Gretchen is absolutely beautiful, nice, and super tiny in person.

It was also great to see all of the Gretchen Christine handbags IRL. I was really surprised because we all know celeb fashion lines are either amazing or a complete disaster. Luckily, the first description applies to this one. Photos don’t really do it justice. Furthermore, every accessory comes with bonus karma points because they are made of vegan leather.

Impressions also carries her new luggage line, which will basically make everyone at the airport jealous of you. Seriously, not kidding. Keep your eyes on your GC at the baggage claim because people will be tripping over themselves to steal it from you. My favorite bag is the Voyageur Matelassé in White Marble.

Made of quilted nylon and vegan leather, it has 360° spin roller wheels and a bumper-guard at the base. It is sold as a set with a matching purse, which is so cute it almost shouldn't be allowed. You can carry it separately or slide into the trolley handle when you are running through the airport in heels trying not to miss your flight (or is that just me?). The silver clasp also makes it easy to open and close, which is important if you are doing last minute airport shopping (and by if, I mean when). The modern marble print is so clean looking and really stands out. I really want one of these for myself (hint, hint, Gretchen, please swag me out, girl).

Gretchen also debuted her collab nail polish with Twila True. This line has a 5 free formula, which means it doesn’t contain camphor, DBP, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin and toluene. But more importantly, the colors are absolutely gorgeous. I can’t wait to see what Grethen does next.

How To Wear A Jumpsuit Anywhere

IMG_20180206_013641011-01.jpeg

As you probably know, I’m obsessed with rompers, which doesn’t always seem like a logical choice because I pee a lot, but fashion over function always. But more and more often, I have to dress like an actual adult, which means not wearing what is essentially shorts everywhere. So, I’ve been all about jumpsuits this season. In particular, Tahari ASL has been my go-to. All of their jumpsuits are beautiful, versatile, and well made.

But there is just one problem…every time I wear one, I get stopped on the street and people wont’ stop complimenting me. It’s almost annoying, but I totally understand. They really are that amazing.

Jumpsuits are great to wear instead of dresses to events, like this Sweetheart Neck Cold Shoulder Jumpsuit I wore to a party for Gretchen Christine Handbags at Impressions in West Hollywood over the weekend. It’s also available in black.

This photo was not actually taken at the party. It's a long story...

This photo was not actually taken at the party. It's a long story...

Here are a few of my fave Tahari ASL jumpsuits.

There are so many great things about the One-Shoulder Crepe Jumpsuit. The color just pops and the one shoulder look really stuns. Because there is a small strap, it also lies more comfortably than most one-shoulder pieces and flatters every body type.

The Metallic Cowl Neck Jumpsuit is another stunner. With a  slightly lower back, it’s really unique piece.

The Lace Sleeve Jumpsuit is perfect for chilly days when you need to go beyond basic. The bow at the waist is a unique touch that makes it extra special.

Jumpsuits are also great if you need a good day to night look, like the office to happy hour. Essentially any time you being a #girlboss.

The Beaded Neck Georgette/Crepe Jumpsuit is a multi-tasker because the beading at the neck eliminates the need for a necklace. It also makes it great for travel. Wear this with the Ruffled Bell-Sleeve Peplum Jacket.

The Short Lace-Sleeve Crepe Jumpsuit is a beautiful and flattering piece that looks wonderful on it’s own or with the Lace-Trim Bi-Stretch Jacket. You can wear this blazer with so many things, even to dress up denim with a pair of sexy heels.

The Geo-Print Matte Jersey Blouson Jumpsuit has such a fun print and flattering neckline. Combine it with a simple black blazer like the Shawl-Collar Bi-Stretch Jacket during colder months or when dressing for a more corporate environment.

Dressing Like The Stars: Grammys 2018

grammys.jpg

Welcome to Dressing Like The Stars. If you are new here, long story short, I’m going to show you how to steal your favorite celeb looks all awards season long.

Can you keep a secret? I was almost going to skip covering the Grammys this year because the fashion is often too haute for real life. Also, I was tired... But it turned out that watching the red carpet arrivals was the best latte I could have had.

I was really floored by the fashion and much like the SAG awards and Golden Globes, the red carpet kept it real! I was really impressed with so many people. But I want to sing the praises of five celebs who really who really stood out the most to me. Here are my favorite Grammy fashion moments of 2018 and how you can emulate them.

Kill It In Purple Boots Like Hailee Steinfeld

It's probably not a coincidence that Pantone's Ultra Violet is the 2018 Color of the Year. But seriously, how amazing were Hailee's purple boots paired with her white dress? It was a risk that was well worth it.

Shine In Silver Like Chrissy Teigen

Metallics had a moment last night. Ashanti, Zuleyka Rivera and Maren Morris all wore metallic dresses. But mamma-to-be Chrissy Teigen simply shined the brightest.

26376693_260291741174890_4931130803842187264_n.jpg

Jack Janelle Monáe's Style

Janelle Monáe's inspired everyone with both her groundbreaking Time's Up Speech and her embroidered tuxedo. It was one of the highlights of the evening.

Look Ravishing In Red Like Camila Cabello

There is nothing more classic Hollywood than a red dress. This is a look that is so easy to for anyone to pull off. Here are few similar dresses. And yes, there is a a plus size option.

26865897_190325588381659_989509672715157504_n.jpg

Be A Style Star Like Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey's Gucci Dress was EVERYTHING! While I couldn't find a super close dupe, there are so many nice star print dresses available that it is totally possible to re-create this whimsical look yourself.

Five Winter Must Haves

26158904_324272921416548_2330930935391846400_n.jpg

A lot of people forget that even in sunny Los Angeles, winter exists. Sure, I wear shorts or a romper during the day, but at night, summer clothes are a no. Coming from New York, I’ve always had mixed feelings about the cold. On one hand, I hate actually being cold. On the other hand, I really like winter fashion. I love layering and dark colors. It’s a nice change of pace. Even when it dips below 60 here, it’s fun to wear some the same things I used to wear in frosty Manhattan. In fact, even after living here as long as I have, I can’t get rid of my old winter clothes. Winter fashion—I just can’t quit you. Here are five of my favorite essential winter fashion items. And trust me, even if you live on a tropical island, you still need a few of these.

Krankz Audio Wireless Headphones

Krankz Wireless Headphones in Black Image.png

Okay, so not fashion but Krankz Audio Wireless Headphones made my winter essentials list because when layers + wires = nightmare. Let’s say you have your phone in your pocket, but you are wearing a coat, sweater and a scarf over it. Where are the wires supposed to go? Layers of clothing should not mean layers of confusion.

One thing I love about Krankz is that they are super easy to pair with your device. It takes seconds and you don’t even have to google or read the instructions. They are also super chic and available in black, white and red. Plus, wireless headphones are the easiest way to listen to my podcast. Just saying….

They also make a great gift. I know this because my husband stole my pair and won't give them back to me.

Vint & York Sunglasses

Vint and York Fitzgerald.png

It’s winter, but the sun hasn’t gone away, so you still need to protect your eyes. I just got a pair of Fitzgerald sunglasses from Vint & York and I’m obsessed. I have a small face and they are comfortable AF. Even if you don’t have a small face, Vint & York has lots of vintage-style options (hence the Vint). My personal faves are the Fairbanks, Zelda and Copa. I’m also very impressed with the sturdy quality of the frames. I don’t want to accidentally drop them, but I could….

Cashmere

As I always say, friends don’t let friends wear wool blends. I heart cashmere. Also, wool is itchy. Who wants to itch? Life is difficult enough. And contrary to popular belief, cashmere doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Here are some ideas.

Boots

It’s too hot to wear them the rest of the year, so I like to wear boots as much as I can when the temperature drops. That way, I’m completely over them by spring.

Leopard Print

I always associate animal prints with winter. They’re also a great way to not look boring and to add of touch of “I actually thought about this,” to any outfit. Leopard print works with both black and brown everything. Purr!

Journelle’s Semi-Annual Sale Will Help You Achieve All Of Your Lingerie Resolutions

26180023_10100630278348969_339541276_o.jpg

Thank you so much to Journelle for featuring me in their 12 Days of Darlings on Instagram. I'm honored! This is probably the first time anyone has ever called me “Darling.” I hope it’s not the last…

Is your New Years resolution to kick up your lingerie game? Well, this is perfect timing because Journelle is having a major sale. From bras and panties to loungewear and anything you consider just a little naughty—Journelle has it all. And they have it in lots of cup sizes. Known for their beautifully curated collection from all the brands you love, they only have everything you want. Seriously, if you can’t find a bra, thong, or teddy from Journelle you can’t at the very least describe as must have, please get in touch. No, I’m NOT holding my breath. Here are a few of my favorite items that are currently on sale.

Fleur't Lacy Dainties Half Camisole

26177730_10159697862150526_279072533_o.jpg
image1-2.JPG

I lied! This actually isn’t on sale, but #sorrynotsorry because it’s still a deal. You know those nights when you're hanging out at home, but want to feel a little extra (or all of your sweatpants are in the laundry)? This half camisole is full glam. It looks cute peaking out of a tank, but is surprisingly supportive. I’m a C/D and felt totally comfortable.

Stella McCartney Florence Fluttering Bodysuit

26178351_10159697862060526_1201746769_o.jpg

Anything Stella McCartney makes me purr. But this leopard bodysuit is actually a pretty smart purchase because you can wear it everywhere from the bedroom to someplace swanky with black pants or a skirt. I don’t want to say it’s the kind of thing you put on to take off, but it totally is.

Gossard Gypsy Plunge Bra

7015cf2ca0dcd2a2a37af4e2629f502a.jpg

When do you ever see a sexy, turquoise lace bra for $17.70, which is less than the price of a fancy cocktail. Never. Treat yourself!

Underproduction Florence Bra & Briefs

florance_bra_ss17-1.jpg

This bra is soft and comfortable. The pretty flower pattern fabric is made from ethically sourced bamboo—so yes, extra karma points are included. If you prefer more coverage, the high waist hipsters will make you feel like a pin up girl.

Simone Perele Celeste Strapless Plunge Smooth Cup Bra

SIM12M300_black_PD_1000x.jpg

A bad strapless bra is maybe the most annoying thing on Earth. So, invest in a good one that’s actually cute. Don’t miss the matching thong.

Simone Perele Caressence 3D Plunge Bra

simone-perele-black-caressence-3d-plunge-bra-product-1-14534046-613841146.jpeg

3D isn’t just for movies anymore. Sometimes it’s hard to find a supportive bra t-shirt bra that you actually want to wear, but the lace detailing makes this equally chic and sleek. Because there is nothing more annoying than when your bra shows through and it’s not even cute...

Stella McCartney Jasmine Inspiring Soft Cup Bra

STES21327_garnetred_PD_800x.jpg

This stretch lace bra from Stella McCartney is red (well, burgundy) hot. Don’t forget to complete the set with a bikini or thong.

Heidi Klum Intimates Egyptian Beauty Camisole & Shorts

PicMonkey Collage-6.jpg

Do you ever want to wear something comfortable as pajamas that also makes you feel sexy as a supermodel? Heidi Klum knows how to do everything right. This camisole and short set is all you need.

Lonely Dahlia Underwire Bra

LONBR128_black_PD_0a7fb18c-8e1a-4af8-b038-6d49a54d1d9c_1000x.jpg

I have no idea why this brand is called Lonely because if you wear this bra, you will literally have people swarming you. A really unique shape, it's perfect for those slightly open backed dresses and tops. And yes, there are matching briefs.

Hanky Panky Original Thong

Screen Shot 2017-12-29 at 10.52.42 AM.png

Let’s get real for a second. I’m an hourglass. So many thongs rest on my hips too tightly, causing what I call “the dippy thing.” It’s a nightmare. Hanky Panky thongs are basically magic because they fit every body type perfectly. Also, I lied again. These aren’t on sale, but with the cash you’ve saved on everything else, you need at least one Hanky Panky thong is your life.

Special thank you to Hannah Rosela of Behold the Moment for helping me edit these photos which were patiently shot by my husband. Check out her Instagram

Dressing Like The Stars: Golden Globes 2018 Edition

golden-globes-awards-logo.jpg

Perhaps 2018 was the most interesting year for Golden Globe fashion. Hollywood showed solidarity in all black for the #metoo and #timesup movements. This is inspirational in so many ways. While 2018 will definitely be the year women take over Hollywood, it will also be the year of black on the red carpet. Here are some of the trends from the event as well as similar outfits that will inspire you to both dress up and stand up.

Pants & Skirted Pants/Jumpsuits

Alison Brie literally said it best, “Tonight is about women wearing the pants so I chose to literally wear the pants.” Debra Messing, Christina Hendricks, and Alexis Bledel also wore pants or pants that resembled dresses aka skirted pants. This might be one of my favorite styles ever. I'm hoping this look is here to stay.

Velvet

Natalie Portman and Viola Davis took classic old Hollywood to a new level. A signature winter fabric, velvet is forgiving on so many body types and really helps make your accessories pop.

Bows

Bow yes! Tracee Ellis Ross, Sara Paulson, Dove Cameron and Emilia Clarke all had very unique bow dresses. What an easy look to steal!

Something Extra

Whether it's sequins, shine or something sheer, the stars were all about the extra this year. Kerry Washington, Octavia Spencer, Lilly James, Nicole Kidman, Ashley Judd and Issa Rae are great examples of this.

 Peter Pan Collar

Elisabeth Moss looked so prim and proper with her Peter Pan collar dress. These style collars are magical and can take any outfit someplace else, making a formal look more casual or a casual look more formal.

Pop of Color

While everyone wore black, not everyone wore all black. Mandy Moore, Allison Williams, Saoirse Ronan and Katherine Langford all had a pop of color in their dresses. While Halston Heritage killed it this season with their pop of color dresses, it's easy to add a pop of color to any dress you already own using a belt or sash.

Who Has Time To Change? How To Win Day To Night & A Shopping Spree With Bobeau

A lot of the time, I’m running around day to night and changing into another outfit just isn’t an option. Seriously, who has time to change? Luckily, Bobeau is like a fashion psychic. It knows we all have this problem and provides a solution with beautiful, comfortable clothing that looks good no matter what hour it is. Is there anything better than that? Yes, there is. Getting it for free!

Use this link to enter to win a $1000 shopping spree to Bobeau. You also will also receive an exclusive 20% off promo code just for entering.

So, if you aren’t sure what to get because there are just so many good things, here are a few I personally love straight from my closet.

makayla dress bob eau.jpg

I’m all about the Mykyla Longsleeve Dress. It’s comfortable and stylish, which is something that rarely happens. No shapewear! No problem! And like much of Bobeau’s clothing, it is also available in plus sizes. There are so many ways to wear this dress. You can rock it with boots or evening shoes. I love the choker neckline because it means one less thing to worry about accessorizing.

jude flare sleeve.jpeg

The Jude Printed Flare Sleeve Dress is another great day to night option. It’s super boho chic. It also doesn’t wrinkle easily, making it great to travel with. You can wear it on a plane and go straight to lunch or dinner without changing. If you want to add jewelry, consider a pair of statement earrings to dress it up for nighttime.

bobeau blue top.jpg

One of my fave tops is the Cold Shoulder Ruffle Sleeve Top. It can be worn with pants or a skirt and is a great layering piece. Wear it to the office with a blazer and take it off for happy hour! This top is available in five different colors and currently on sale. So, don’t feel guilty about buying more than one. In fact, you probably should!

bobeau flare sleeve.jpeg

Then there are all of the beautiful flare sleeve tops. Flare sleeves are EVERYWHERE this season. The one I’m wearing in the picture above is sold out, but if you like it, check out the Lee Flare Sleeve Blouse, the adorably preppy Flare Sleeve Dress or the Cora Ruffle Sleeve Sweater. If you like large necklaces or statement necklaces—they are the perfect accessories to balance out flare sleeves.

Here are a few more of my faves:

Kacey Knit Jumper (It’s more like a jumpsuit)

Teddy Crop Pant with Pom Pom Trim (So cute for fall!)

One Button Wrap Cardigan (Consider giving this one as a gift)

Delanie Rouched Sleeve Cardigan (Perfect for layering)

You might need good luck to win, but you won’t good luck when it comes to style with Bobeau.

Thank you to Bobeau for sponsoring this post.

How To Buy A Sports Bra Because Indecent Exposure Is A Crime

pexels-photo-196654.jpeg

We've all been there! You're in the middle of whatever exercise you are doing and you realize your sports bra isn't doing it's job. You're one jumping jack away from a potential police encounter. Don't fret! We all need extra support.

I spoke to several activewear girl bosses and a doctor to break down how to choose the right sports bra for A Sweat Life. Click on over and check it out! Never stand by one of those giant walls of sports bras and feel intimidated ever again.

Five Ways To Motivate Yourself To Workout When You Don't Really Want To

19955432_1871614303101122_7726381569748762624_n.jpg

I have a confession. I’ve not been in super workout ra ra mode lately. I don’t know if it is the change of seasons or the seemingly endless amount of projects I’ve been working on, but I’m just not that into working out right now. But, this doesn’t mean I’m not working out, it just means I’m less motivated to get myself going. And that’s okay because I’m still doing what I need to do, even if it takes some extra push to get there. Here are five ways I’ve been forcing myself to workout during those times when I’d rather being doing anything else

Fashion Is A Great Motivator

Who doesn’t get excited to wear new clothes? If you find you have the cardio blahs, buy yourself a cute outfit. This ALWAYS works for me. Here are a few ideas.

So Is Money…

I am beyond overworked right now. Really, I would love to spend my borderline non-existent free time on my couch, but that isn’t an option right now. So, I’m forcing myself to plan my day when I wake up and sign up for a group fitness class using ClassPass. If you miss a class, they charge you $15 and I’d rather put that cash towards anything else. I also work best under pressure, so if I know I have to be somewhere later that day, I ‘m more likely to finish my work.

If you haven’t heard of ClassPass, it’s an amazing program that gets you the best deals (literally, I’ve checked) on group fitness classes in 43 different cities, making life so much easier if you travel a lot and still want to stick to your fitness routine.

If you’ve never used ClassPass before, use my affiliate link for a $40 credit. They have a few plans to choose from.

As Is Time….

Sometimes I want to skip a workout, but knowing what my week looks like in advance and keeping the big picture in mind makes me aware that skipping a day isn’t an option. There just won’t be an available time slot later in the week. This is especially true because I try to workout 4-5 days a week.

But Short Workouts Are EVERYTHING

Trying to motivate myself to workout for 45 minutes to an hour has been like trying to pull teeth lately. First of all, some days I don’t have an extra minute to spare. Then there’s the fact that an hour can sound like ten hours when I am super stressed. So, I’ve found several 30-minute classes that I can motivate myself to go to. Plus, when I know I’m there for a shorter period of time, I work much harder. This makes me feel super accomplished and totally exhausted when I am finished.

And Convenience Is King

This is a conversation I had earlier this week:

Me- Honey, I’m headed off to the gym downstairs in our building to go for a run.

Husband- You’ve never been to the gym downstairs.

Me- Not true, I go there all the time to use the bathroom when I’m sipping rosé at the pool.

Husband- I mean to workout.

Me- Also not true, I’ve used it five times in the two and half years we’ve lived here.

I’m not a gym person or a running person, but I can’t think of a more convenient place to squeeze in a workout right now. So, I’m starting to use the gym in my building more often. Honestly, it’s not my favorite place to workout, but being able to get in and out the most time efficient way possible is sometimes the only option I have.

Remember— SOMETHING IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN NOTHING! A 30-minute jog around your neighborhood is better than a 30-minute snooze on the couch.

F-it Fridays: Everyone Loves A Denim Jacket

denim-1550266_1280.jpg

If there is one universal piece of clothing that everyone needs, especially for fall, and legit flatters all body types, its the denim jacket. They are always on trend, comfortable and there are very few things they don’t work with. I even wear mine with activewear instead of a sweatshirt sometimes (for post-Pilates, not post-spin). Here are a few of my faves right now. Don't forget to f-it because it's Friday, buy yourself a treat for making it through the week.

J.Crew's Denim Jacket in Newton Wash  is a happy medium between light and dark denim. Classically styled with well-curated details like these copper buttons, you can't really go wrong.

If you like a classic cut, but a stretch fabric, this DG2 by Diane Gilman Virtual Stretch Classic Denim Jacket checks all of the boxes. It's also affordable enough that if you drink too much at happy hour and leave it somewhere, you won't hate yourself in the morning. But, the person who steals it from you will be one stylish jerk.

If you can't decide between light and dark denim, why be forced to choose? Helmut Lang's Mixed Jean Jacket takes ombre to a new level and looks like it was designed to be an Instagram post.

Trucker style denim jackets are bigger than semis this year.  I'm loving this one from BP by Nordstrom. Just don't accessorize with a trucker hat. That would be taking it too far.

If plain denim just won't do, check out this absolutely adorable patchwork jacket from BLANKNYC at Revolve

BB Dakota's MIA Denim Jacket has a faux fur collar for those slightly windy fall days. Because the collar is detachable, it's like getting two jackets in one!

Fab for Fall With Tahari ASL

21689230_133340413957700_8961681792633405440_n.jpg

Sometimes, I need to dress like an actual adult, which is why I love Tahari ASL. They have so many fab pieces for fall, all of which are incredibly versatile. You can wear them to work and then to happy hour (my favorite hour) afterward. These are also great to layer with, which is important with the ever-changing (read: incredibly annoying) fall weather. But don't take my word for it. Check out a few of my favorites.

burgundy blouse.jpg

How fashionista is this? Seriously, the Carmeuse Ruffled Cape Blouse is bold and so not basic. It's also burgandy and possibly other adjectives that start with b. Wear it to work. Wear it on a runway.

purple shirt.jpg

Keyholes are more popular than pumpkin spice right now. The Mockneck Keyhole Crepe Blouse is chic and stylish. You can wear this top for business causal or actual casual. Also, lavender is love!

white shirt-2.jpg

The Asymmetrical Ruffle Hem Top is one of the most timeless pieces from Tahari ASL this season. It's a total classic you will wear for seasons to come. Literally, you can wear it all year round. I even wear mine with shorts on warmer fall days. But obviously, I wore it with jeans here because not everyone lives in California and obvs I already wore shorts in another picture.

flower shirt.jpg

I was all about floral prints over the summer (have you seen my Instagram?), but I thought when the weather turned cold, I’d have to give them up—wrong! The Ruffled Jabot Floral Print Blouse is the perfect layering piece.

jumpsuit.jpg

The Star-Neck Jumpsuit is everything! As someone who wears rompers to business meetings (if you don’t believe me, ask anyone who has ever had a business meeting with me), sometimes I need to step it up. This jumpsuit is comfortable and versatile. Throw a jacket on (like the one below) and you have an entirely different outfit.

capelet.jpg

If I had to pick a favorite Tahari ASL piece this season it’s the Faux Fur Capelet. Seriously, how cute is this? Wear it with a dress, a jumpsuit or jeans and you automatically look like a glamorous movie star. I'm not kidding--this capelet is magical! The second you put it on you will instantly feel like the paparazzi are chasing you everywhere!

Thank you so much to Tahari for partnering with me for this post.

Dressing Like The Stars: Emmy Awards 2017

m sull.jpg

The big winner this year at the 2017 Emmys was fashion. The red carpet was filled with so many beautiful dresses, you know that every stylist was not only on their A-Game, but their clients actually listened. Everyone was so fabulous that I'm not sure I even saw one thing that could have inspired any of the following thoughts—

What were there thinking?

Were they even thinking?

Do they have a brain?

WTF is wrong with this person?

Do they not own a mirror?

Someone call an ambulance!

Nope, it was a night for spectacular fashion, funny jokes and minimal regrets. Here are some of my favorite looks and a few suggestions on how to steal the best styles without getting arrested by the fashion police. (Too much?)

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman reserved her time on the red carpet in a gown from Calvin Klein By Appointment. Book your own style in either a satin and chiffon gown by After Six or this Morgan & Co lace and jersey dress. Both are from Nordstrom.

Samantha Bee

Style made a b-line for Samantha Bee in a Rubin Singer gown. Go for green in a chic long sleeved cutout dress from Cavalli or a slightly more casual frock from Misguided.

Marisa Sullivan

Marisa Sullivan rocked the red carpet in a Mac Dugal dress styled by Ali Levine. While it's hard to find a dupe, this burgundy Alfred Sung Strapless High/Low Sateen Twill Gown puts a slightly more classic spin on her look, while the Fernanda dress by Amanda Uprichard captures the fun .

Millie Bobby Brown

Millie Bobby Brown's Calvin Klein By Appointment dress did pirouettes around everyone else on the red carpet. ASOS' Mini Tulle Dress is a different spin on the same idea. If you want to be a ballerina but maybe in sneakers or boots, this  J. Crew tulle skirt  is everything!

Amanda Salas

If I had to choose my favorite look of the night, it would be Amanda Salas' one-of-a-kind red lace sheath gown. Styled by Ali Levine, this also happens to be, in my opinion, one of the best looks she's ever styled. Aijek Millie's Lace Gown gets the look pretty close, while the Marie Lace Midi Dress is a little more appropriate for an extra sexy date night.

Shailene Woodley

Shailene Woodley looked almost unrecognizable, but in a good way (obvs) at the Emmys. Her green Ralph Lauren dress had jaws dropping. Create a similar look in a green velvet mermaid gown from Jovani or basically steal it in this Aidan by Aidan Mattox Velvet V-Neck Wrap Evening Gown.

Adulting 101: How To Take Care Of Your Clothes

Being able to take care of your wardrobe is just as important as adulting(ish) life skills like knowing what to wear to a wedding or how to do your makeup. It’s not only about not accidentally dying white socks pink, or motivating yourself to go to the dry cleaners—it’s about knowing proper garment care. Clothing you treat well lasts longer, especially if it is an investment piece. It also just looks better on you.

Every Garment Has A Cheat Sheet

If you learn ONE thing from this post, let this be it. If you have no idea how to a garment is supposed to be cleaned, there are instructions on every label. From couture to Forever21, I promise you it’s there unless you accidentally cut it out. If you are looking for more than ten seconds, don’t enlist a search party—just turn the item inside out.

Learn How To Do Your Own Laundry

I don’t care if you have a housekeeper. So do I. She doesn’t do my laundry. Not to sound like your mom, but red wine is an accident waiting to happen at all times. Even if you don’t do your laundry on the regular, at least know how to do it. What if your housekeeper gets into an accident on the way to your house? What if she quits because she hates your generic Windex? Are you going to wear dirty underwear until you can find a replacement? Learn how to throw some clothes into a machine, move them into another machine and fold them.

All of this being said—don’t ask me to clean my house. I suck at all forms of cleaning except for laundry. Also, I hope your housekeeper never gets into an accident on the way to your house.

Remove Stains ASAP

I try to carry around a Tide To Go Stain Pen in my pocket for quick stain removal when I’m out. If you’re clumsy like I am and tend to spill things on yourself almost constantly, it’s a good idea. When you get home, spray on a spot treatment ASAP. I like Shout.

Your Cycle Has Nothing To Do With That Time Of The Month

I know every washing machine is different, but most of the time you are going to wash your clothes in the Normal Or Regular Cycle. If you are washing gross linens (you have a pet or a crazy sex life), choose Heavy Duty.

The Deal With Water Temperature

If you are only washing white clothes—use hot.

If you are washing anything you want to clean and not fade—wash in warm and rise in cold.

Some people wash everything in cold and use special cold detergent because it’s cheaper than using hot water. Don’t be cheap. Your underwear will thank you.

WTF Is Permanent Press?

I just learned this one myself. The Permanent Press cycle uses warm water and slows the spin cycle like someone who can’t stop looking at their phone in traffic. Choose this cycle for items that have a tendency to wrinkle.

The Gentle Cycle Is Your New BFF

I love the Gentle Cycle. I use it for things that aren’t even labeled for it because it helps keeps your clothes from wearing out. You know those cheap t-shirts you buy that last for a month? Want to make them last for a year? Use the gentle cycle.

I also use the Gentle Cycle for activewear. WHAT? WHAT? You read that correctly. This will change your life and make your activewear last much longer. If you don’t believe me, ask anyone who works at Sweaty Betty or Lululemon. They will tell you the same exact thing.

You Only Need Two Detergents

99% of the time, I use Tide Pods for my clothes. I prefer pods because liquid is heavy. Powdered detergent never dissolves and mostly offends me as a human being.

I know there are special detergents for activewear, but unless you have the world’s smallest washing machine, you probably aren’t going to wash your activewear alone. Use it if you like, but I personally think it’s unnecessary.

The only other detergent I use is Ecover, but mostly for hand washing lingerie and underwear. It also works in a pinch if I run out of Tide.

The Dryer Is Not Your Friend

I know it’s annoying to line dry your clothes because it is. But it literally takes three minutes to throw your stuff up on hangers over your bathtub. Unless you have a laundry room, but if you actually have a laundry room, you are probably better at adulting than I am and likely not reading this. Your clothing lasts so much longer if you line dry. You don’t have to do this for everything because line-drying socks is a nightmare. But, it’s a good rule of thumb for important(ish) things you wear outside.

If you have glass shower doors, invest in a pole. If you have a shower curtain, move it over and work with what you have. Throw a bathmat underneath to catch drips. If your bathroom has a fan, turn it on and keep the door open.

If line-dying sounds like too much work, at least use your dryer on a low setting so your clothing doesn’t get baked.

Also, use dryer sheets because they make everything soft. I know fabric softener exists, but this is easier and cheaper. I like Mrs. Meyers Clean Day dryer sheets because they smell good.

Find A Drycleaner You Like That’s Conveniently Located

A good drycleaner is your wardrobe’s best ally. These people will save your clothes, so they will save your life or close enough. If you stain something, take it in ASAP so the stain doesn’t have time to set.

Tailor Everything

Do you know why your pants always get gross on the bottom? Because they’re too long. Spend a few bucks on a hem and dryclean less often. Your clothes look better when they are tailored. It’s a good investment.  You will get more likes on Instagram.

Buy The Right Hangers

I went through this in my closet organization post. Be a grownup and toss your wire hangers. Velvet hangers keep your clothes in the best shape. You can buy inexpensive ones from Amazon. Replace ALL of your hangers at once.

But don’t toss all of your old hangers in the garbage. Keep some for line drying and see if you can donate the rest to a local thrift store or shelter.

Also invest in hangers with clips for skirts and pants, if necessary.

Summer Vacation Packing Checklist

Vacations are fun. Packing is a nightmare. Every year you say you aren’t going to overpack. LIES! It never happens. Instead of throwing EVERYTHING into your suitcase and potentially getting into an argument with the TSA, which isn’t exactly difficult to do under any circumstances, just look at this list instead. If you are in need of any vacation essentials you don't have already, don't worry, I've provided some suggestions. And if you scroll to the bottom of this post, I have a little present you for. A checklist you can print out or screen shot for easy reference. I'm the best! I know!

A Unique Suitcase

Everyone has a black suitcase, which can lead to baggage carousel confusion from hell. I don’t care if you have a cute ribbon on yours. So does everyone else. That trick is so five years ago. Do you really want to risk someone accidentally taking your bag home, ruining your vacation and potentially your life?

Luggage Tags

Not the ones you get for free because they easily tear off. Buy real ones. You can thank me when your lost luggage is found in less than seven hours.

A Large Tote To Carry On

Keep your sanity by keeping everything in one place.

A Laundry Bag

Don’t be that person who mixes their cleans and dirties. It’s unsanitary. Laundry bags also help keep your bedroom or hotel room neat(ish) and cleaner.

Shoe Bags

There is nothing more gross than putting dirty shoes on clean clothing. If your shoes didn’t come with a bag, buy yourself a set. Even use plastic bags if need be, but do SOMETHING!

A Luggage Scale

If you’ve ever had to open your suitcase at Check-In to stuff your clothes into your carry-on while having a panic attack or have been ripped off with overweight luggage fees, you need this. And airlines, if you are reading this: You charging me an extra $75 because my bag weighs 51lbs instead of 50lbs doesn’t make the flight any safer, so start calling the fee what it is-- The Executive Prada Bag Fund.

Underwear

You can never bring too much underwear, especially if you are planning on having as much sex as humanly possible. It takes up like zero space. MORE! MORE! NOT KIDDING-- MORE!

Stylish Shoes You May Or May Not Be Able To Walk In

If you are trying to pack less, you only really need two pairs. One strictly for night and one for day/night. But let’s be honest, you will bring at least three pairs, probably four, most likely five.

Pool Shoes

Because sand and water are not stiletto friendly. Wear them to the airport so you aren’t that a-hole in heels.

A Hat

Not to sound like your mom, but sunburns suck and make you look older. Protect yourself before you wreck yourself.

Sneakers

If you don’t bring sneakers, you definitely won’t workout on vacation.

Socks

You can’t wear sneakers without them. Unless you want to be gross and destroy your feet. Don't forget grippy socks, if you plan to do Pilates.

Sleepwear

Even if you sleep naked on the reg, you might not want to in a cold hotel room or if you are visiting friends.

Swimwear

Don’t rely on the hotel gift shop. More is more!

Gentle Cycle Wash

You don’t want your cute new bikini to fade or get ruined. I’m big on clothing care, so I always bring gentle cycle wash, either in packets or in a travel bottle. Hotel shampoo also works in a pinch.

Caftans

I love caftans because they can take you from the pool to brunch. They are also great for passing out mid-day.

Maxi Dresses

I love maxi dresses because they look cute during the day and easily dress up at night with jewelry and accessories.

Fun Jewelry

I love traveling with costume jewelry because you don’t have to worry about it getting stolen. I’m also not entirely sold on the safety of hotel safes. This also dresses up casual clothing so you can wear the same dress more than once, if need be.

A Clutch

Nothing screams tourist more than schlepping your entire life in a large handbag. Let it go and downscale.

Cute Tops

Consider your destination when choosing even basic clothes. You probably won’t wear the same style in The Hamptons as you would in the Pacific Northwest.

Versatile Bottoms

Jeans, linen pants and shorts are all you need.

Activewear

You don’t need to go crazy, but two or three outfits should suffice. Remember, you can get away with wearing leggings twice if you don't swaeat too much in them.

A Classic Denim Jacket

Sometimes it gets cold at night or you have one lousy day. Be prepared.

F-It Fridays: PrettyLittleThing Edition

I know it’s been a while since I’ve done an F-It Friday. But then again, I have a podcast called Things We’re Too Lazy To Blog About, so you can clearly understand my priorities here. But hey, it’s the summer, which means most of you are vacationing or staycationing anyway. And if you’ve been trying to figure out what to wear for these events (or even non-events like date night or grabbing drinks your friends), I have an easy solution. The PrettyLittleThing Vacation Shop has lots of adorable options. Also, everything is super affordable, so you can treat yourself sans guilt!

PLT even sent me a few outfits so I could show you how cute everything is. While I did not personally wear any of these pretty little things on vacation (because I did not go on one), I drove twenty minutes to the neighborhood of Silver Lake, Los Angeles to take these pictures. So, close enough. Also, it was literally 1000 degrees out, so it was almost tropical. And by tropical I mean desert-like. You get it…. I’m trying here…

The Bardot Mini Dress is the perfect combo of sexy and casual. You can wear it shopping during the day and then go straight to date night. Your date will swoon over the Bardot. Probably more than once.

The Cecillia Ruffle Blue Embroidered Shift Dress is a trendy take on the classic look and ever so slightly modest.

IMG_6930.JPG

These Leaf Print Slinky Wide Leg Trousers are great with a cotton top, paired with a bikini or even over a one-piece swimsuit.

You know those days when it's so hot outside you literally want to walk around naked but you can't because you're afraid to break the law, get arrested and then get stuck in a cell without air conditioning? Those days were made for the Ammie Grey Floral Wrap Dress. It's so light, you'll stay cool and cuff-free.

The Leaf Frill Cold Shoulder Shift Dress is equally cute and comfortable. You can totally wear this to a BBQ, go home and then pass out on your couch-- no changing necessary.

The Pink Floral Cold Shoulder Chiffon Playsuit is perfect for playing around on warm days. It also comes off really easily, so if you avoid rompers because of the whole peeing thing, know you're good to go in this one.

Yes, the gold slide sandals are also from PrettyLittleThing.

These Jeanie White Extreme Ripped Mom Denim Shorts would probably give your mom a heart attack. But she would appreciate the fact that they're high waisted.
